Jordan Makant is a community organizer and freelance writer based in Western North Carolina. He was born in Georgia (USA), and has lived in South Carolina, North Carolina, Ohio, and Wisconsin. He graduated from Lenoir-Rhyne University with a BA in History (minor in Creative Writing) in December 2017. He has worked as a fry cook, dish washer, cashier, tour guide, stage technician, actor, assistant teacher, assistant editor, and copywriter. He is the Founding Technical Director and Interim Director of Development for the Hickory Playground, INC, a nonprofit arts advocacy organization dedicated to raising awareness of and financial support for the arts throughout Catawba County, North Carolina. He has had poetry published in Wizards in Space (forthcoming), Miscellany, Kakalak 2017, The Ekphrastic Review, The Wild Goose Poetry Review, Poetry in Plain Sight, and elsewhere. His first chapbook of poetry, Impossible Angles, was published in September 2017 by the Main Street Rag. He has also had an article published in Socialist Worker.
